11th August 2022 – (Hong Kong) Three off-duty male police officers were suspected of having sex with the same underage girl at different times and taking erotic photos and videos of each other. Eventually, the girl asked the social worker for help and exposed the incident. After receiving the report, the police investigated and charged the three police officers with illegal sexual intercourse with child under the age of 16, committing gross indecency, and producing child pornography for a total of 10 crimes. The three cases were brought up together at the Shatin Magistrates’ Courts this morning (11th), and the three persons do not need to enter their plea for the time being.
The prosecution stated that it had obtained legal advice and the case would be referred to the District Court for trial. Therefore, the magistrate adjourned the case to 7th October for further mention, pending the preparation of the referral documents by the prosecution. During this period, all three are allowed to be released on HK$8,000 bail each, but they are not allowed to leave Hong Kong and harass witnesses.
The 15-year-old girl met 4 men through a dating app at the end of last year and even had sex with them. Sources revealed that the girl had a dispute with one of her boyfriends and was coerced into sexual intercourse. After learning about the incident, a social worker suspected that someone had sex with the underage girl, so she assisted the girl to report to the police at the end of February this year. On 14th March this year, the victim, accompanied by an adult and clinical psychologist, went to the police station to take a statement. The police immediately launched an investigation and revealed that four off-duty male police officers were suspected of being involved in the case, and they were arrested on 15th March. They have been suspended and put under investigation.
Another 27-year-old arrested man has been released unconditionally after investigation and legal advice, but the arrested man will continue to be suspended pending an internal police disciplinary review.
