20th May 2024 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong police have successfully apprehended a lone male suspect responsible for a series of criminal acts in Kwun Tong district. The individual, a 23-year-old man surnamed Sham, was taken into custody within 19 hours of the incidents.

The first incident occurred on the evening of Saturday, the 18th of May. The suspect initially targeted a residential estate car park located on Cha Kwo Ling Road. Armed with a wooden stick, he proceeded to vandalize a security booth by smashing its glass windows and CCTV cameras. Upon being discovered, the perpetrator quickly fled towards a nearby staircase.

Subsequently, at around 10.15pm, a 23-year-old local woman reported an alarming encounter to the authorities. According to her account, she was accosted by an assailant wielding a wooden stick in a secluded alley near Hung To Road and King Yip Street. The victim, who was on a break from her work at a nearby restaurant, had stepped out to smoke when the suspect suddenly appeared. Using the wooden stick to intimidate her, he demanded that she hand over all her cash. Refusing to comply, the brave woman found herself on the receiving end of the attacker’s violent blows. In desperation, she cried out for help, prompting the assailant to hastily escape along the alley towards Hoi Yuen Road. Fortunately, the victim managed to escape without any monetary loss, though she sustained bruising and abrasions to her hands, shoulder, and back. She was subsequently treated at United Christian Hospital and discharged the following day.
