22-year-old police officer infected with COVID-19 visits All Night Long Bar in TST, total cases linked to LKF cluster increase to 38


26th March 2020 – (Hong Kong) The total number of infected patients in the LKF cluster continues to grow. Another 12 new COVID-19 cases today were linked to LKF cluster adding to a total tally of 38 people.

Dr.Chuang Shuk-kwan from Centre of Health Protection expressed today that the 428th patient is the 22-year-old police officer from Sham Shui Po. She visited All Night Long bar at  9, Knutsford Terrace, TST with a colleague on 21st March and the colleague has since been admitted to the hospital and the test results are pending. Also, the Filipino band members who performed at All Night Long, Insomnia in LKF, DUSK TILL DAWN in Wan Chai and Centre Stage are managed by the same company.

It is reported that the policewoman named Cheng went to the shooting range of the New Territories South Headquarters in Tsuen Wan on 24th March to practise shooting. At that time, over 30 police officers from Kwai Tsing Police District and Yau Ma Tei/TST Police District were also present during the shooting practice. She also had afternoon tea with 3 other colleagues on the same day before feeling unwell. She has no travel history.

Out of the 14 cases with no travel history today, 3 more new staff are linked to Insomnia bar in LKF involving a 30-year-old woman, 30-year-old man and 47-year-old man. Total cases linked to Insomnia bar have increased to 16. 4 more are from the musicians’ cluster in a band, 4 others visited Insomnia Bar (Cases 422, 428, 450 and 442 whereas another patient visited Insomnia bar and another bar. Centre for Health Protection is tracking the others who were in close contact with the infected patients.

The band members who work at Insomnia, Dusk Till Dawn and All Night Long bars are under one management company which has 9 bands under them. A musician tested positive earlier also visited Centre Stage bar. They have a total of 120 staff. 16 have tested positive to-date. The others will be sent to designated quarantine centres.
