8th August 2022 – (Hong Kong) At 2.15am today (6th), the police received a report from a woman, saying that several friends and her were pursued and assaulted by nearly 30 men, some of whom were holding hard objects at a restaurant near Florence Mansion, 6 Tsing Ling Path in Tuen Mun. A large number of police officers rushed to the scene, and the group immediately dispersed, leaving behind 3 men with injuries to the head, shoulders, hands and feet. Three of them, Leung (22 years old) who sustained head injuries and fell into coma, Chao (41 years old) and Cheung (39 years old) were rushed to Tuen Mun Hospital by ambulance for treatment.

The 22-year-old Leung was certified dead at 2.59pm today after being hospitalised for 2 days. Police have classified it as a murder case and have made two provisional arrests. According to the source, the key suspect in the murder case was a 17-year-old male teenager who knew the deceased. He attended the deceased’s 22nd birthday banquet on the day of the incident. However, he was slapped after engaging in a feud. Feeling aggrieved, he then summoned some Sun Yee On triad members to assault the deceased, his friends and the restaurant owner. The deceased was the most seriously injured and he passed away today.

The case was handed over to the Tuen Mun Police District Anti-Tribune Unit for follow-up and is now classified as murder and wounding. It is reported that the reason for the dispute between the two sides involved the relationship issues.

The Tuen Mun Police District Anti-Tribune Unit, together with the Intelligence Unit and the Serious Crime Unit, arrested a 17-year-old man and a 21-year-old man on the same day. The arrested 17-year-old boy is reported to be the main suspect in the case. The other arrested man (21 years old) has a triad background. Police are still looking for other fugitives on the run.

Upon further investigation, Police reclassified the case as murder. Police seized five advertisement panels which were suspected in connection with the case. Police laid a holding charge against the 17-year-old boy with one count of murder and two counts of wounding. The case will be mentioned at Tuen Mun Magistrates’ Courts tomorrow (August 9) morning. The 21-year-old man was released on bail and is required to report back to Police in early September.

Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death of the deceased.

Active investigation by the District Anti-Triad Section Team 1 of Tuen Mun is underway. Police do not rule out the possibility that more arrests will be made. Anyone who witnessed the case or has any information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers on 6148 1800.
