22-year-old man arrested in Tsuen Wan for drug possession and weapons

22nd September 2023 – (Hong Kong) A 22-year-old man was apprehended by the Tsuen Wan Police Department’s anti-triad unit on Thursday night for the possession of drugs and weapons. The arrest followed an investigation conducted by the unit, prompted by intelligence received. Yesterday evening at pm, the police raided an apartment on Heung Wo Street in Tsuen Wan.

During the operation, law enforcement officers successfully confiscated approximately 60 grams of suspected cannabis, small quantities of suspected ecstasy pills, a batch of suspected cannabis vape oil, five butterfly knives, and one fixed-handle knife. The 22-year-old individual present in the apartment was promptly arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking and possessing offensive weapons.

According to a police spokesperson, the seized drugs have an estimated market value of around HK$26,000. The spokesperson also emphasized that trafficking in dangerous drugs is a grave offense under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance. Upon conviction, individuals may face severe penalties, including a fine of up to HK$5 million and life imprisonment.
