2 taxi drivers arrested in South Lantau for aiding 8 mainland men to enter Hong Kong illegally


18th October 2020 – (Hong Kong) At around 8pm last night (17th), the police received a report of suspected illegal immigrants found on Tai O Road, South Lantau. Police officers arrived at the scene and intercepted two taxis. After a preliminary investigation, eight mainland men (21 to 55 years old) were found in the two vehicles.

They were suspected of entering Hong Kong illegally. The two taxi drivers (36 and 62 years old) were arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting others to enter the country illegally, and the case is handed over to the Lantau Police District for follow-up.
