2 suicides reported in Tin Shui Wai and Lai King within 2 hours

6th August 2022 – (Hong Kong) At about 5pm today (6th), the police received a report from the security guard of Yan Ying House, Tin Yan Estate, Tin Shui Wai, that smoke was suspected to be coming from a unit.

When the personnel arrived at the scene, they found that a male resident (69 years old) was lying unconscious in unit, with a pot of burned charcoal beside him. He was then sent to Tin Shui Wai Hospital for treatment. Police did not find any suicide note at the scene. After preliminary investigation, the police classified the case as suicide.

Meanwhile, at about 3pm today (6th), the police received a report from the security guard of Wonderland Villas in Lai King, saying that a man was found lying in coma in a flower trough. Rescue personnel rushed to the scene to rescue the victim and sent him to Princess Margaret Hospital for emergency treatment. Unfortunately, it was confirmed that he died of serious injuries. The police cordoned off the scene, and a sneaker, believed to be the victim, was left on the side of the road. After preliminary investigation, the police confirmed that the deceased’s surname was Lee (38 years old). It is believed that he fell from a stairwell in the building The police seized a suicide note at the scene. The cause of death is to be determined after an autopsy. It is understood that the victim sent a text message to his family before he fell down the building, revealing that he was feeling depressed because of life problems.
