2 police officers in Kowloon Bay charged with misconduct in public office released on bail


7th February 2023 – (Hong Kong) A 41-year-old police station sergeant and a 35-year-old police officer in Kowloon Bay allegedly used fake identities and letters falsely issued by the police to obtain CCTV footage of an assault case on 17th November 2021. After the incident was revealed by the police, the two were charged with the same count of misconduct in public office. The case mention took place at Kwun Tong Magistrates’ Courts today (7th). The two pleaded not guilty and were released on bail until 5th June. The prosecution stated that nine witnesses will be called and there will be six CCTV footages of more than one hour in total. The trial is expected to take three days.
