Several people were injured after a vehicle rammed into protesters near Yuen Long MTR Station (Updated)

5th August 2019 – (Hong Kong) A vehicle purported rammed into protesters who erected barricades to block traffic in front of Sun Yuen Long Centre near Yuen Long MTR Station. At 10.30am today, a car driver tried to ram through the barricades but he was stopped by protesters. He then got out from his vehicle to argue with them. Protesters tied the driver’s limbs. ‘MURDERER’ was written on the side of the vehicle while the car hood was written with the word ‘BLACK’ which implied the coalition between police and triads to ram into the civilians.

They eventually let him get back into his vehicle. Moments later, he stepped on the acceleration pedal and rammed over the barricades. Protesters tried to block him with umbrellas before he reversed and sped off. Many protesters fell down and injured as a result. Police arrived at the scene and classified the case as hit-and-run accident.

One of them has been sent to Pok Oi Hospital.

Driver of the vehicle was initially tied by protesters.

Earlier at 11am today, Yuen Long Station was closed as 400 protesters gathered at the station. The protesters then proceeded to block off traffic
