2 nightclubs in Yau Ma Tei ordered to close for 7-14 days, 1 female person in charge arrested, 21 fined


2nd October 2022 – (Hong Kong) The Yau Ma Tei Divisional Miscellaneous Investigation Team of the Police raided nightclubs in Yau Ma Tei last night (1st) to crack down on violations of anti-epidemic regulations. During this period, a 46-year-old female person in charge in a nightclub on Jordan Road was arrested on suspicion of violating the Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) (Business and Premises) Regulations. 12 male customers and 8 female employees aged 28-59 in the venue were issued with fixed penalty notices The nightclub must be closed for 7 days.

In addition, the police found a 58-year-old male customer in a nightclub on Shanghai Street who failed to scan the LeaveHomeSafe QR code in accordance with the regulations. He was suspected of violating the “Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition of Gathering) Regulations” and was issued a fixed fine. The nightclub must be closed for 14 days, and the man in charge of the venue surnamed Chan (49) was also issued a summons for prosecution.
