2 new imported COVID-19 cases from U.K. and Mauritania reported in HK today (Updated: 6.35pm)


10th June 2021 – (Hong Kong)     The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health (DH) announced that as of 0.00am today, the CHP was investigating two additional confirmed COVID-19 cases, taking the number of cases to 11,875 in Hong Kong so far (comprising 11,874 confirmed cases and one probable case).

All of the newly reported cases are imported cases. The two imported cases include 20-year-old man who arrived from United Kingdom and a 51-year-old man who arrived from Mauritania. He stayed at DORSETT Mongkok in Tai Kok Tsui during incubation period. Both patients had no symptoms. The 20-year-old man tested positive for L452R variant while the 51-year-old man tested positive for N501Y variant.

 A total of 36 cases have been reported in the past 14 days including three local cases of which one is from unknown sources.

 Separately, subsequent to the announcement by the CHP on the updated quarantine arrangements of local COVID-19 cases with the N501Y mutant strain, the CHP reminded that persons who resided or worked within the same building as the residence of relevant cases and had been released from the quarantine centres will be subject to compulsory testing on days 3, 7, 12 and 19 following the announcement of the relevant confirmed cases by the DH. A compulsory testing notice (CTN) was issued on 7th May. They will also be required to undergo self-monitoring until the 21st day.

Specified persons in relation to the following specified premises are reminded to undergo compulsory testing in accordance with the CTN tomorrow:

– Tower 6, Island Harbourview, 11 Hoi Fai Road, Tai Kok Tsui; and
– Shing Yu House, Block P, Tin Shing Court, 3 Tin Ching Street, Tin Shui Wai.

 As at 9am today, three COVID-19 confirmed patients (Cases No. 11832, 11863, 11866) were discharged from hospital in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 11,590 patients with confirmed or probable infection have been discharged.

 At present, there are 603 negative pressure rooms in public hospitals with 1,120 negative pressure beds activated. A total of 42 confirmed patients are currently hospitalised in 13 public hospitals and the North Lantau Hospital Hong Kong Infection Control Centre, among which one patient (Case No. C6794) is in critical condition, one (Case No. 9907) is in serious condition and the remaining 40 patients are in stable condition.
