19-year-old arrested following stabbing incident in Sydney’s inner city

10th June 2023 – (Sydney) Police in New South Wales (NSW), Australia, announced today that they had arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with a stabbing incident in Sydney’s inner city. The NSW Police Force reported that emergency services were called to a bus on Flinders Street, near South Dowling Street, at approximately 12.40pm local time on Saturday after receiving reports of a man being stabbed.

Police officers were informed that a 35-year-old male passenger was stabbed by another man who was not known to him before the assailant fled the scene on foot. Paramedics attended to the victim at the scene before taking him to St Vincent’s Hospital to receive treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

The police established a crime scene and conducted a search of the surrounding area. At approximately 1.15pm local time, a knife was seized and a 19-year-old man was arrested in Belmore Park at Haymarket.

The arrested individual has been taken to a police station to assist with inquiries, while the investigation is ongoing. The police have not released any further information about the incident or the identity of the suspect.
