19 Filipinos, 1 Pakistani man and 1 Indian man arrested in Central for street gambling


12th September 2021 – (Hong Kong) he Special Duty Squad of the Central District Police and the Hong Kong Island Regional Tactical Unit police officers carried out an anti-illegal gambling operation on Murray Road near Chater Garden at about 10.30pm yesterday (11th). A total of 21 people were arrested for gambling on the streets, including three Filipino men, 16 Filipino women, one Pakistani man and one Indian man (32 to 68 years old), all possess Hong Kong identity cards.

They were also suspected of violating the Prevention and Control of Diseases (Prohibition of Group Gathering) Regulations (Cap 599G) (the Regulations) and were issued fixed penalty fines by the police. Police officers seized a batch of exhibits during the operation, including 3 sets of playing cards and a small amount of gambling money. All arrested men and women have been detained for investigation.
