150 govt officials re-enter restricted area in Jordan to check on residents who evaded COVID-19 test

25th January 2021 – (Hong Kong) The restricted area in Jordan was closed for nearly 48 hours. The declaration was finally revoked at 3.38am today (25th) and at 6 am today, a total of about 150 officers from the Immigration Department, Customs and other discipline departments returned to the restricted area. They guarded the main entrances and exits of many buildings, including residential buildings along Ning Po Street and Battery Street. They intercepted and searched residents.

According to sources, Customs officers and other department officers mainly checked the test text messages of people entering and exiting to determine whether they have been tested to prevent leakages. Some residents criticised the government for failing to delineate restricted areas in time, causing at least 2,000 to 3,000 citizens to leave beforehand.
