15 arrested in anti-illegal labour operation in East Kowloon


1st December 2021 – (Hong Kong) The Police East Kowloon Region Tactical Unit, Wong Tai Sin Police District, Sau Mau Ping Police District, Kwun Tong Police District, Tseung Kwan O Police District and the Immigration Department launched a joint anti-illegal labour operation code-named “Champion” yesterday.

Officers raided multiple locations in East Kowloon. During the operation, law enforcement officers arrested 15 people (24-62 years old), including 3 local men, 2 mainland men, 4 mainland women, 4 Pakistani men, 1 Vietnamese man and 1 Indian woman.

They were respectively suspected of “violating conditions of stay”, “assisting and abetting others to violate conditions of stay”, “hiring persons who are not legally employable”, “using others’ identity cards” etc. All arrested persons have been detained for investigation or have been released on bail pending further investigation and must report to the police in early December.
