146 reports of adverse events received by Department of Health relating to COVID-19 vaccination in past one week


15th September 2021 – (Hong Kong) In the past week preceding till 12th September, the Department of Health has received a total of 146 reports of adverse events and 2 reports of deaths (65 and 56 year-old men) with regards to persons who had been vaccinated against COVID-19 within 14 days before death.

The Department also received 4 reports of suspected myocarditis or pericarditis after COVID-19 vaccination, involving three 15-year-old teenage boys and 1 12-year-old girl. Chest pain occurred within 26 days and their condition was stable.

As of 8pm on 12th September, the Department of Health has received 5,843 reports of adverse events. Regarding the death cases involving vaccinated persons, including 43 cases involving vaccinations within 14 days before death, the Expert Committee on Clinical Events Assessment Following COVID-19 Immunisation  has concluded that 19 of these death cases were not causally related to vaccination, and the other 19 cases were preliminarily concluded not to be related to vaccination and the remaining 5 cases have yet to be evaluated.
