14 arrested in illegal gambling den in Sham Shui Po

6th December 2022 – (Hong Kong) According to tips and in-depth investigations, the Sham Shui Po Police District Special Duty Team raided a unit on Apliu Street yesterday (5th) evening and smashed an illegal gambling den. The police officers arrested a total of 14 people in the unit. Among them, a 55-year-old local woman was arrested on suspicion of “managing gambling establishment” and violating the “Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) (Business and Establishments) Regulations”.

The other 9 men 2 local women, a Vietnamese man and a Mainland man (37 to 60 years old) were arrested on suspicion of “gambling in a gambling establishment”. At the same time, 13 gamblers were also suspected of violating the “Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) (Business and Establishments) Regulations” and were issued fixed penalty notices by the police. They were issued fines.

During the operation, the police seized several game machines, a fishing game machine, a batch of game cards with recharge points and about HK$7,000 in gambling money. All the arrested persons are being detained for investigation.
