5th February 2023 – (Hong Kong) An animal volunteer group known as “Protect Stray 2021” received the remains of more than 40 stray cats and dogs earlier. The group said on its Facebook stating that since the first day of the Lunar New Year, it has received more than 135 dead cats and dogs, including cats and dogs that were hit by cars and cats which fell to their tragic deaths from apartment windows. The group denounced that 90% of the deaths were caused by human negligence.
The group pointed out that since the beginning of the Lunar New Year till today, there were people in the community who continued to set off fireworks and firecrackers privately, causing cats and dogs to be frightened and killed by vehicles.
Some were poisoned to death or were bitten to death by other dogs. The group also revealed that the cost of hospice is getting higher and higher, and it hopes that the negligence can be stopped and accidents will be reduced.
