13-year-old girl attacks male classmate with knife during class in Tuen Mun school


16th May 2024 – (Hong Kong) At around 3om today a 13-year-old girl attending a school located at 28 Castle Peak Road in San Hui, Tuen Mun, engaged in a dispute with a male classmate over a trivial matter. During the altercation, the girl unexpectedly retrieved an approximately 30-centimetre-long fruit knife and launched a surprise attack from behind on the male student, catching him off guard. He sustained injuries to his shoulder, back, and hands. The school administration was alerted to the incident and promptly reported it to the authorities. The injured male student received immediate medical attention from on-site paramedics and was subsequently transported to Tuen Mun Hospital for treatment. Law enforcement officials, after conducting preliminary investigations, have arrested the female student on suspicion of “assault” and are currently investigating the motive behind her violent act.

In response to the incident, the Education Bureau has expressed deep concern and has promptly reached out to the school for details. The school has initiated a crisis management team to closely monitor the situation and provide counselling services to students, parents, and staff members in need. The Education Bureau will maintain close communication with the school to offer appropriate support and assistance throughout the process.
