A baby crocodile was discovered by residents of Tai Po at Bride’s Pool yesterday. It was captured and handed over to Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department which later confirmed the incident. The 13.5 inch long crocodile weighs around 0.2 kg. The crocodile is now under the custody of the department.
Crocodiles fall under the category of endangered species under The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITIES).
Commercial trade in specimens of these endangered species is prohibited. Their trade is subject to permits or certificates of origin.
