12 persons including person in charge arrested at unlicensed bar in Sham Shui Po

27th November 2022 – (Hong Kong) The Sham Shui Po District Miscellaneous Investigation Team and Task Force launched an anti-triad operation in the district yesterday (26th) at about 10pm to combat illegal activities in the district and cut off triad income sources. The police raided a unit at No. 203-211 Nam Cheong Street and smashed a suspected unlicensed bar. During the operation, a 59-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of “unlicensed sale of alcoholic beverages”, “possession of alcoholic beverages for sale”, “operating unlicensed karaoke establishment” and “Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) ( Business and Premises) Regulations. In addition, 6 men and 5 women (aged 46 to 72) were arrested in the unit, suspected of violating the “drinking alcohol in premises without a liquor licence” and the “Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) (Business and Establishments) Regulations”.

The police then issued fixed penalty notices to them. The police seized about 80 cans of beer and a batch of audio equipment at the venue. All arrested men and women were detained for investigation.
