12th July 2020 – (Hong Kong) The new COVID-19 epidemic in Hong Kong continues to deteriorate by the day, with 28 new confirmed cases and 33 preliminary confirmed cases on Saturday (11th). Many of the diagnosed patients have visited restaurants during the incubation period. In addition to the two cases linked to the Bun Kee Congee & Noodle Foods at Ping Shek Estate, a couple aged 82 and 85 who visited Deluxe Cuisine at Tsz Wan Shan Shopping Centre were also infected. They live together at Ching Hong House in Tsz Wan Shan. They are now being treated at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. In the same mall at Green River Restaurant located on the 6th floor, there were two more confirmed cases and one preliminary case confirmed.
A 62-year-old diagnosed domestic helper, in addition to working in the customers’ homes at Laguna City, Lam Tin and Tsz Oi Court Oi Chung House, she also worked part-time at the Green River Restaurant in Tsz Wan Shan Shopping Centre. So, a total of four patients may have visited the Green River Restaurant.
Kong Tai Care for the Aged Centre in Tsz Wan Shan and the surrounding housing estates have become the latest epidemic centre. Amongst the patients, Case 1430, the 62-year-old woman who lives at Manning Theatre Building works at Green River Restaurant in Tsz Wan Shan Shopping Centre. Another 48-year-old patient who tested positive in preliminary diagnosis also ate at Green River Restaurant. She lives at Tsz Ching Estate in Tsz Wan Shan.
Among the new cases added yesterday, a 37-year-old female patient had visited Sushi Express near Bun Kee Congee & NoodleFoods at Ping Shek Estate in Kwun Tong on the 22nd of last month. During the meal, the diner next to her was coughing and she developed itchy throat on 3rd July. She was finally diagnosed after the virus test.
Sushi Express stated that a patient had patronised their branch at Shop 4, G/F, Ping Shek Estate Carpark, Choi Hung during the incubation period. The company immediately suspended the operation of the branch and hired a cleaning company to thoroughly disinfect all areas within the branch. All the unsealed or processed ingredients were disposed and employees were arranged to isolate themselves for 14 days.
In addition, among the new cases added yesterday, a 52-year-old male FEDEX pilot who arrived in Hong Kong from the United States yesterday (10th) arrived in Hong Kong and had a virus testing. He visited Din Tai Fung restaurant before returning to Sheraton Hotel in TST. The exact location of the branch was not revealed. The spokesperson for Ding Tai Fung announced that all their four branches will be closed for disinfection for at least 5 days.
In addition, the Center for Health Protection also added to the itinerary of individual patients diagnosed earlier. Among them, the 1368th case of a 40-year-old female patient who became ill on the 5th of this month tested positive on 9th July and she visited TamJai SamGor Mixian restaurant in To Kwa Wan Mansion. Case 1402 case, a 15-year-old girl and Case 1403 case, an 8-year-old girl, who live at King Mei House, Shan King Estate, Tuen Mun, visited Teishoku 8 restaurant at Tuen Mun Town Centre on 1st July.
