10 estate agents engage in physical brawl in Kwun Tong to fight for customers (Updated: 11.30pm)

11th May 2020 – (Hong Kong) At around 8pm today, two groups of estate agents with around 10 people engaged in a physical brawl as they were suspected to fight for customers on How Ming Street in Kwun Tong. Despite some bystanders trying to persuade them to stop, they persisted and some were pushed to the grounds after blows were exchanged. After 30 minutes later, one of the groups fled the scene while the remaining agents called the police for help.

Around 4 people were injured during the scuffle. Police are currently investigating the cause. One of the men was arrested. He sustained head and hand injuries. He was then sent to the hospital for treatment. A spokesperson for Wing Tai Properties Limited responded to the incident and said that they will inform the Estate Agents Authority (EAA). The incident took place in a public area outside the showroom of a new development site in Tuen Mun.

The EAA emphasised that real estate agency practitioners must be self-disciplined, and their companies must also be responsible for the conduct and discipline of their employees. A licensee who has been convicted for committing a crime involving violence will not only have his license revoked, but will not be given a license again within five years.
