3rd August 2021 – (Hong Kong) Cathay Pacific Airways announced that it will give all Hong Kong athletes who have won the Tokyo Olympics medals an unlimited number of business class tickets for a year to and from any Cathay Pacific destination to celebrate the Hong Kong team’s impressive achievements. However, due to the epidemic situation, they are not able to travel abroad. Cathay Pacific emphasised that it is the one year unlimited trips starts after the first flight. The offer is also applicable to the Hong Kong team athletes who won the Tokyo Paralympic Games.
However, many netizens pointed out that Cathay Pacific should treat all the Hong Kong team athletes in the Olympics with the same rewards. Their efforts are obvious to all. At the moment, the two who qualified are Edgar Cheung Ka-long, the foil gold medalist and , the gold medal in foil and Hong Kong swimmer Siobhan Bernadette Haughey who won 2 silver medals.
